My first weekend in the Big Easy.

The production offices were set up just a few days ago in lovely downtown Slidell and now I’m just starting to get settled in here at the Villa Du Lac corporate housing complex. I spend the better part of this weekend doing a revision on the script since the version everyone’s working off of is a bit dated. Over the past few days we’ve nailed down a few locations, specifically, the lake house itself, so Dave Mullen (the DP) and I have been working though the pages with these location images in mind.

Today we drove downtown to check out some of the more “urban” areas to see what may work for our driving sequence where Megan and her sister, Sofie, are headed to the “Party House” in the beginning of the film. A couple of blocks running down Canal street look like the best contenders at the moment. Well lit, (since it’s a night shot), and a completely different look as compared to the rest of the film, which is a good thing. One can only take so many “woods” shots, if you know what I’m saying.

There's an old term, "Where the hell is Slidell?", wonder if that's still used.

Used to have quite a bit of family there. Despite the phrase "Where the hell is Slidell" that's a great area. Very addictive.
