Production Day 18
The Ruins.
We got a late start today. Mud, rain, traffic jams, trucks stuck in mud, you name it, we got it. Rubber boots soon became a highly valued commodity.
This is one of the coolest locations in the story. We found it over a year ago on our first scout. Apparently, it was to be a golf clubhouse back in the 30's that was left unfinished. Now it looks like, well, a bunch of ruins in the middle of the swamp. The only problem is...it's in the middle of the swamp.
Right out of the starting gate, one of our grip trucks got stuck in the mud, thus clogging up the only way in and out to the set. The bunch of us were knee deep in the sludge trying to stick branches, boards or whatever else we could find for the rear tires to find some traction. No dice. We had to wait for a 4 x 4 to come pull this sucker out an hour or two later.
This was the big "Flashback" day, where we're shooting (spoiler) all the scenes where Christian is seen with Sofie doing the deed to Malin. After much delay, we managed to get it all shot out. We also shot the scenes where Megan brings the rest of the group into the woods where they discover the body. I think we got some great stuff. That old, decaying building served as a wonderful backdrop to the action.
I love my rubber boots.
